MATA VOTED UNITED PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Juan Mata had been voted the Player of the Month at Manchester United, beating close competition from compatriot Ander Herrera, Man United TV reports.

The Spaniard won the poll with 44% of the total votes. The votes’ collation was on Manchester United official website and Twitter account. Mata won the award ahead of Herrera by 198 votes. This is the first time the 28-year old has won the award since September last year. The player made some important contributions despite the club’s poor form.

Elsewhere, United are expected to face tough competition when they play Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday. In a month where United have performed poorly, there are fears that the team would be able to get their acts together to get the desired results. It has been a bad October for Manchester United, and they would not want to start November on a bad note. The turn of events is still surprising for a side that started the pre-season and first few games very well.

Aside the team’s concerns, United boss has been charged by the Football Association for comments he made against referee Anthony Taylor.

The Portuguese said “it will be difficult for him [Taylor] to have a very good performance” ahead of the game when the referee was appointed to take charge of the United-Liverpool game. The manager should have known better having served a stadium ban for such comments last season. The FA rules means Coaches are to avoid commenting on match officials ahead of any game.

Man United TV reported that the club’s youngster Marcus Rashford was not named in the Young Lions squad. This could mean that the player would be named in the national team when they take on Scotland and Spain. Mourinho had warned interim England boss Gareth Southgate that the player be exempted from next summer’s tournament in Poland if he would be left on as a regular for the national team.

Sunderland are Doomed

On the 21st of August, incumbent manager, David Moyes, intimated that his side had begun their relegation battle – just two games into the current campaign. Call it a lucky guess or tempting fate but the ex-Everton hero was right; the Black Cats just equalled the record for the worst start to a Premier League season in history.

Following the example set by Alan Ball’s Manchester City team in 1995/6, have clawed just two points from their opening ten games, with one-all draws against West Bromwich Albion and Southampton their only source of reward. To put that statistic into perspective, only three top-flight teams have ever begun a season with just three points from ten matches, let alone two. Continue reading “Sunderland are Doomed”

ALLEN’S GOAL COSTS UNITED TWO POINTS

An uncommon mistake from Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea gave Stoke City a chance to snatch a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday.

Eight minutes from time, the Wales international midfielder Joe Allen, who was earlier on the receiving end of a dreadful high tackle from Ander Herrera, scored due to De Gea’s blunder.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jessse Lingard were denied by Grant during a first half when United played with absolute domination than in Thursday’s 1-0 narrow escape in Europa League victory over Zorya. Captain Wayne Rooney came into the match as a second-half substitute once again.

Paul Pogba was guilty of missed opportunities in a game where United were regularly in the ascendancy and he was unable to add to compatriot Anthony Martial’s 67th minute opener in the final minute when he thudded a Marcus Rashford cross against the bar.

The Red Devils lie sixth in the Premier League, five points behind Manchester City ahead of the leaders’ clash with second-place Tottenham later on Sunday. Grant displayed incredibly skill in the second minute after Pogba danced past Xherdan Shaqiri to cutely play in Ibrahimovic.

The France international, Paul Pogba was supposed to have netted in the 16th minute after an Ibrahimovic back heel and a pass from Rashford gave him space in the Stoke box, but he steered the ball far away.

United’s dominance of possession yielded further chances around the half hour, as Grant produced his best work so far to thwart Lingard at close quarters. Ibrahimovic got on the end of Lingard’s cross and found Stoke captain Ryan Shawcross in his way with a vital block.

Shaqiri was careless on the ball and, as United drove forward, Martial found possession on the left and collected the loose ball when Cameron challenged Rooney to delightfully pick out the top corner. De Gea fumbled Glen Johnson’s speculative strike, while sub Jon Walters scrambled against the bar and Allen thumped into the open net. The goal triggered boisterous jubilations from the under-fire Hughes, whose side climbed off the bottom after Pogba’s miss.

Manchester United players will learn from Zlatan

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera believes that the presence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the team will be a great asset. He said that the players will benefit from having a player of this caliber in the team and that they will be able to learn from the best.

Ander Herrera stated that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of the best players in the world and is also an amazing leader on and off the pitch. He believes that the Swedish player will be able to inspire the younger players and ensure that they play to their full potential.

Ander Herrera said that it is normal for a player like Zlatan Ibrahimovic to score the kind of goal against Galatasaray. He added that he was not surprised by the goal as he has been following the former Paris Saint-Germain player for quite some time. He believes that there is still more to come from the striker and that it will be an exciting season for Manchester United.

Ander Herrera believes that strikers such as Marcus Rashford will benefit a lot from playing with a top quality player like Ibrahimovic. He said that the Swede has a good knowledge of high level football and that he will be useful when it comes to tough games. He believes that all the younger academy players will also learn a lot from having someone like Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the team.

Gary Neville’s first attempt at management ended in a massive failure

Gary Neville’s first attempt at management ended in a massive failure after he lasted less than six months at Valencia before being sacked.

It was a huge surprise that Neville decided to take up his first job as a manager at a foreign club. Best known for his time at Manchester United, Neville would have been odds-on favourite to take over at an English club. Having previously worked as a pundit at Sky Sports, there were even those who questioned if Neville was ever going to enter into management and apply the principles learnt from Sir Alex Ferguson of all managers.

His first job at Valencia ended in massive disappointment after the club went from one bad result to another under the management of Neville. The Spanish outfit had to do something in order to stay in the division and they decided to call an end to Neville’s time much earlier than his contract had to run. This was despite the former United right back issuing several pleas that he deserved more time in order to make an effect on the results. Since his first job has ended in major disappointment, it has been speculated that Neville may return to punditry.

Premier League denies Leicester City TV for further Telecast

The Premier League has denied Leicester City TV the opportunity to show the game against Manchester United live on TV.

The foxes could be crowned as the new Premier League champions – something which seemed like an impossibility by year ago – with a win at Old Trafford this weekend. Given the unprecedented nature of the situation, Leicester City TV were hoping to gain access to the game in order to provide its supporters, who have been unable to get a ticket, with the opportunity to enjoy the occasion. However, the Premier League has agreed a deal with Sky Sports and it prevents the mass distribution of TV rights.

Sky Sports along with BT pay a large sum of money in order to broadcast the live games throughout the campaign. They hold the rights for broadcasting the games within United Kingdom, while international rights are being held by individual broadcasters across the world. The interest within the Premier League is so intense that the TV money has been growing with every renewal. Next season, the TV money will cross £ 5 billion just for the domestic rights. It is reported that even if BT were to show the live games, they will also not allow Leicester City TV to screen the event. Louis Van Gaal finding hard to get Support from Young Players

Louis Van Gaal is not understood to have too much of support from the younger section of the players at Manchester United

Most of the younger players have the opinion that the style of coaching offered by Van Gaal is not modern and also, he very rarely looks to communicate with them which makes them feel unrelated to him.

The favourite of the youngsters at the moment is the club’s former player Ryan Giggs as he is the one who often have conversations with them and support them to the fullest.

Giggs is in the Red Devils management team already, but, his role is only of an assistant which, many believe, is not the suitable role for him and he should have been promoted to the manager’s post by now after the team’s not so quick rise under Van Gaal.

The United youngsters also share the same view as they reckon there would be more of a chance of them playing first team Football if Giggs takes charge rather than anyone else.

They are not in support of Jose Mourinho replacing Van Gaal either as having talked to some of their counterparts in the Chelsea camp, they know that the Portuguese’s approach towards the youngsters would not be hugely different and they would be mere bench warmers in his rein too. Manchester United’s FebruaryTV schedule has been announced

The Premier League has always been one of the highest viewed football competitions in the world but even more people are tuning into the top tier English League to watch their favorite players and clubs duke it out in the pitch.

One of the main reasons of why the Premier League has turned into an even more tempting and attractive football destination for the fans is due to what is going on in relation to a few of the top clubs.

After going through a disastrous start of the season, Jose Mourinho was sacked from his managerial position in Stamford Bridge and they are currently located in the bottom spots of the Premier League and taking into consideration just how outstanding their performances have been in the previous season, its shocking just how underwhelming Jose Mourinho’s team has been playing in their current campaign. Willian says that he will chose Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi

Chelsea winger Willian says that he will chose Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi over the brilliance of Cristiano Ronaldo anytime of the day.

He also says that his Chelsea teammate Eden Hazard has the potential to become a FIFA world Player of the Year recipient one day. The competition between Messi and Ronaldo for the tag of being the best player in the world has been going on for several years. Messi has come out in front more often than not, but Ronaldo has closed the gap in recent years. Willian has seen enough from Messi over the last decade to suggest that the Argentine is easily the best in the world.

Ronaldo will have to step up his game this season after having failed to win any major end of season on with Real Madrid last season. He has made a poor start, which is a major surprise by his usual standards since his move to the Spanish league, after failing to score in the opening two league games. He has been overshadowed by the likes of Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez in these matches. It is not known whether the arrival of Rafa Benitez as the new manager has brought about a change in the tactics of Madrid so that they rely less upon Ronaldo.
