Manchester United legend Paul Ince has said that the Red Devils can only dream about the possibility of signing Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur. The Mancunian giants have been linked with the England international on a regular basis this year but Ince does not believe the club have a chance of landing his services.
He told: “I cannot see Harry Kane to Manchester United happening. I can see him going, yes, and wanting to leave Tottenham, but not to join United. People keep saying that, but what they keep forgetting is they’ve got Marcus Rashford up front. He’s always wanted to play up front, but what you need to remember is he can also play off the left-hand side, as we’ve seen from plenty of his goals this season. So if you’re looking at Rashford left, Kane centre and Jadon Sancho on the right. It sounds pretty nice doesn’t it? But it probably sounds like a dream for a reason, it is a dream.”
Kane recently said that he would consider a fresh challenge away from the north London club suppose they are unable to make progress in the positive direction. United have since been credited with a regular interest in the marksman but a deal appears far from happening this summer with the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Elsewhere, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has remained reluctant to do any business with the Red Devils since the departure of Dimitar Berbatov to Old Trafford 12 years ago. It appears unlikely that Levy will change his stance anytime soon and there are more chances of Kane making the switch away from the Premier League with Real Madrid and Barcelona said to be among the admirers. Kane picked up a long-term hamstring injury in January but he is expected to make a comeback when the season recommences after the coronavirus shutdown. He netted 17 goals from 25 outings before the setback.
