Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his players will start their preseason with a game against English Championship club Derby County currently managed by legend Wayne Rooney. Rams boss Rooney is the all-time leading goalscorer for both Manchester United and the England national team.
Solskjaer and his players impressed on the way to the Europa League final before they were beaten on penalties by a stubborn Villarreal after they had played out a 1-1 draw with the Spanish team at the end of 120 minutes. Villarreal saw off the Red Devils to win a first European title despite being underdogs.
Manchester United on TV would also be a feature when the Premier League team takes on Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in a second friendly game of the summer for Solskjaer and his players on Saturday, July 24. The QPR game precedes the friendly encounter with Preston North End on Wednesday, July 28.
Manchester United will be in action with three Championship teams at the start of their preseason schedule before taking on newly promoted Premier League outfit Brentford on Saturday, July 31. The last friendly game for the Red Devils takes place a week later against familiar opponents Everton. Manchester United on TV would be a feature when the Europa League finalists start their season at home to Leeds United on August 14.
